Psychologist/Psychoanalyst specializing in helping people struggling with anxiety, depression, & relationship challenges. Conducting virtual therapy in: CA, CO, HI, NJ, & NY.
Our capacity to connect with ourselves and with others is crucial to our feelings of well-being. When we connect, we feel more fully alive, and that the world is more lively. When we can’t connect, we feel anxious, isolated, empty, or depressed. I believe my job is to help clients more fully connect to the range of their experiences. I help adults, adolescents, and couples explore why they lose connection. I help them identify, understand, and overcome the deep root of their disconnection. I help them find well-being, which gives them great joy. Although this is serious work, I also find that there are moments of levity, fun, and humor. The exploration, discovery, and growth in therapy can be uniquely gratifying.
Approach to Therapy
The capacity to experience, tolerate, and use our range of feelings is a crucial life-skill, and a lifelong project. However, various life circumstances can complicate this task, making feelings difficult to manage, especially when they come to be experienced as anxiety provoking, shame inducing, overwhelming, confusing, or completely unrecognized. Unsurprisingly, difficulty managing feelings (or attempting to avoid them altogether) can lead to significant problems. Seeking out therapy can be invaluable in these circumstances.
Focus
I enjoy this work with a wide range of adults, adolescents, and couples, being with them to understand and to feel what’s happening on “the inside”. Among my areas of specialization is an abiding interest in working with men, many of whom find it difficult to sit with their emotions.
