About
Our capacity to connect with ourselves and with others is crucial to our feelings of well-being. When we connect, we feel more fully alive, and that the world is more lively. When we can’t connect, we feel anxious, isolated, empty, or depressed. I believe my job is to help clients more fully connect to the range of their experiences. I help adults, adolescents, and couples explore why they lose connection. I help them identify, understand, and overcome the deep root of their disconnection. I help them find well-being, which gives them great joy. Although this is serious work, I also find that there are moments of levity, fun, and humor. The exploration, discovery, and growth in therapy can be uniquely gratifying.
Education and Experience:
I graduated magna cum laude from UCLA with a BS in psychology. I earned my PhD in psychology at the California Graduate Institute. My dissertation research focused on perfectionism and the tolerance of ambiguity. I received the Bernstein Award for Best Dissertation of the Year and published an article on this research in the Journal of Clinical Psychology. I then went on to earn a doctorate (PsyD) in psychoanalysis at the Los Angeles Institute and Society for Psychoanalytic Studies (LAISPS) where I became a certified psychoanalyst. In addition to seeing clients for over 20 years in private practice, I have treated a wide range of individuals, groups, couples, and families in schools and clinics. I have served as a supervisor for therapists in training for many years.
